Yūga (優雅) means grace — elegance held in reserve. This katana speaks softly: a clean grey blade, a fine temper line, restrained brass fittings and bare solid wood that keeps the eye on the steel. Refinement is the whole point, a sword for those who value tradition and quiet aesthetics over spectacle, equally suited to training or to the collector’s stand.

Forging & Steel

The blade is refined 1095 high-carbon steel, mirror-polished and clay-tempered. 1095 is a classic, high-carbon sword steel that takes and holds an exceptionally sharp edge, with roughly 0.95% carbon giving it the hardness serious cutting demands. Differential hardening in the quench draws a genuine hamon along the temper line, the visible signature of the harder edge meeting the more flexible spine — proof of the steel’s strength rather than mere decoration. The mirror polish then lifts that temper line into clear view along the length of the blade.

Fittings

A solid carved-brass tsuba anchors the mounting with a warm, understated weight and a measure of corrosion resistance. The saya is plain solid wood, deliberately quiet so the blade stays the focus, and the tsuka is bound over stingray fish leather for a distinct texture and a firm, dry grip that holds through a full session.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The clay-tempered 1095 blade is sharpened and functional — a serious cutter for training as well as a collector’s piece. High-carbon steel rewards basic care: wipe it clean and keep a light film of oil on the blade to ward off surface rust.
