Ten means heaven — and this katana earns the name on the shelf as much as in the hand. We built it for the collector taking a first real step beyond wall-hangers: a genuine Damascus steel blade, folded for that flowing grain no stamped steel can imitate, run through with a bo-hi that lightens the sword and gives it that low, singing draw.

Forging & steel

The blade is forged from folded Damascus steel, the multi-layer construction adding strength and edge-holding ability while raising the rippling wave pattern across the surface. No two blades carry the same grain, because the figure is a record of the folding itself rather than a print stamped on afterward. It ships sharpened — a functional cutting blade, not a blunt prop. The bo-hi groove down the spine sheds weight and shifts the balance back toward the hand, which is what gives a draw of this length its clean, audible character and keeps the sword quick through a cut.

Fittings

A carved copper tsuba bears Japanese script and guards the hand, its warm tone set off against the pale blade. The saya is beige lacquered wood that lets the natural grain show through, hung with a brown sageo. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine white shagreen (ray skin) over a copper menuki kit, locked with two bamboo mekugi for a firm, distinctive grip that stays put through repeated handling.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. With a sharpened folded blade and full fittings, Katana Ten serves as a functional sword as readily as a display piece, balanced and light enough to handle with confidence. It sits naturally alongside other folded-steel pieces such as the mid-range Shiroi ki. Browse the full katana range to compare steels and tiers.
