Kujaku means peacock — the bird whose fanned display is the very picture of elegance — and this top-of-range katana lives up to it, from the luxurious peacock motif on the scabbard to the intricate, fanning hamon along the edge. It is a piece chosen by those who want elegance and cutting performance in equal measure.

Forging & Steel

The blade is refined T10 steel, forged and hand-folded many times by a master smith, then 100% hand-polished. From that high-level traditional hardening rises a high-complexity, clove-shaped hamon — the choji-style temper line that is among the hardest to control in the quench. The blade is full-tang, the whole sword as capable in the hand as it is striking on the shelf.

A choji hamon is the smith’s high-wire act: clay is laid so the temper line bulges in repeating clove shapes, and any error in the quench shows instantly, which is why a clean clove pattern marks genuine mastery. Folded many times and brought to a full hand polish, the Kujaku’s T10 blade reads as a showpiece yet cuts like a working sword. It weighs 1.7 kg with the saya and 1.3 kg drawn, balanced for controlled tameshigiri, while the peacock-motif scabbard and gilded copper fittings make it as striking on a stand as it is in the hand.

Fittings

The tsuba is finely cut copper with gold and silver plating. The saya is traditionally lacquered wood carrying a luxurious peacock motif, and the tsuka is wrapped in genuine white shagreen under a premium cotton tsuka-ito.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The hand-folded, clay-tempered T10 blade is a genuine high-performance cutter as well as a showpiece. Explore the full katana collection, or compare with master-tier blades like the Katana Yūkan’na and the Katana Kengen.
