Gin means silver — the cool, quiet metal of restraint rather than spectacle. This katana keeps that promise: discreet on first glance, then richly detailed the closer you look, with a black-and-red magnolia saya glowing under a bright-red sageo and a hand-forged Damascus blade beneath the polish.

Forging & Steel

The blade is fully hand-forged from folded Damascus steel and differentially hardened to carry a traditional hamon. The grey grain runs in soft layered rivers across the flat — the signature of many folds welded into one bar — while the temper line tells you where the hard edge gives way to the resilient spine. It is a master-tier blade made to cut and to be studied in equal measure, the differential hardening giving it a true working edge rather than a decorative one.

The mounts match the grade. The tsuba is an exceptional piece of pure copper worked with sculpted gold-plated silver, the saya is black-and-red lacquered magnolia wood, and the tsuka is wrapped over genuine stingray leather under that striking bright-red sageo, for a grip that stays sure through repeated draws. Restrained from across the room and intricate up close, the Gin is a sword that rewards a second, longer look.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The Gin is a full-tang, differentially hardened hand-forged Damascus katana with a genuine sharp edge, suited to tameshigiri cutting and to display alike. At 1.4 kg with scabbard it carries master-grade presence. Sold for trained, responsible handling.
