Genki — energy, vitality, the spark of being alive — and the sword carries that current from edge to scabbard. The ito wrap does not stop at the handle: it continues onto the saya, so the whole piece reads as one charged, unbroken line. This is a T10 cutter dressed in tachi-style mounts for collectors who want the energy to run end to end.

Forging & Steel

The blade is high-carbon T10 tool steel, clay-tempered and finished with a master polish that lifts a distinct hamon for both looks and cutting performance. The differential hardening leaves a hard, keen edge over a resilient body — the steel a serious practitioner relies on for clean tatami cuts. A master polish is slow, hand work, and it is what makes the hamon legible as a true forged line rather than a faint suggestion.

Fittings

The tsuba is finely sculpted premium copper. The saya is built in tachi style with Obitori Kanagu, Kashiwaba and Kogiri fittings, and the tsuka-ito wrap carries on from handle to scabbard — an unusual touch that ties the whole mount into a single continuous line. The tsuka is wrapped in genuine stingray leather with a high-grade copper menuki kit, locked by two bamboo mekugi for a solid assembly.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The Genki is a full-tang T10 cutting blade fit for tatami practice as well as display. Browse the wider katana collection, or compare with T10 siblings like the Nara and the Sabana.
